Aranthera James Storei orchids from Mayesh Wholesale Florist are characterized by their mult-branching characteristic. The result is a spectacular display of crisscrossing orchid stems. Aranthera hybrids result from crossing Arachnis and Renanthera species. The Singapore Botanic Gardens registered Aranthera James Storei in 1939 , which has been responsible for many commercially important hybrids. Aranthera flowers tend to be more intensely red than those of the Arandas, which on the other hand, are more free flowering.
In 2001, the Singapore Botanic Gardens renamed the orchid to Aranthera Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, which was personally picked by the President of the Philippines in 2001.
